Major Achievements for 2012-2013

Externally-funded Projects

  • Continuation of the two-year partnership project Murray Wetland Carbon Storage to improve carbon storage in wetlands, project being managed by the Murray CMA with funding provided by the Australian Government Biodiversity Fund.
  • Continuation of the Carrs, Cappitts and Bunberoo Creeks system project, in addition working on a partnership project with the former Lower Murray Darling CMA (now Murray CMA) to investigate engineering options to improve water management for environmental purposes.
  • Business Case prepared for NSW Government Office of Water for submission to DSEWPaC on Locks 8 and 9 Weir Pool Manipulation Optimisation Plan: incorporating the Carrs, Cappitts and Bunberoo Creeks system.
  • Continuation of a partnership project with the former Lower Murray Darling CMA (now Murray CMA) to investigate future options for potential water regime options and management of Bottle Bend. 

Consultancies

During 2012-2013, four consultancies were submitted; one successful and the second on hold.

  • Sub-consultant to Sinclair Knight Merz (client: former Lower Murray Darling Catchment Management Authority) in relation to a Bioregional Assessment relating to potential impacts from coal seam gas and coal mining (successful).
  • Sub-consultant to The Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre (client: Goulburn Murray Water Connections Project); Conceptual Modelling of the Kerang Lakes to support restoration of more natural flow regimes. (successful, on hold).
